EDU 5572: Current Trends in Early Childhood Education (3 cr.)**

A study of current topics is the field of early childhood education. This course will give an overview of issues and trends in early childhood education, focusing on one topic in depth during the semester. Sample topics include: childrens' rights and child advocacy, literacy and the arts and international programs in early education. This summer the course will focus on technology and its use in the early childhood classroom. The course will highlight research in the area and examine ways to use tools such as the Smart Board, IPAD, websites and software in developmentally appropriate and effective ways with young children.
